Vince Vaughn is hilarious as a comedic actor and Jennifer Aniston is as talented as she is beautiful. One would think that this is a recipe for a landmark romantic comedy. As many have said, neither romance nor comedy exists herein. I blame this on a preachy script that is apparently written from a woman's point of view. The story is old, but seldom told: Man spots attractive woman. Woman attracted to man's clever come-on. A fun courtship commences and the relationship progresses. Couple moves in together. Domestic issues anger woman. Woman attempts to remodel man in her ideal image. Friction ensues. Ultimately, the movie culminates in a preachy tone that men need grow up and conform to the more mature domestic wishes of women or risk losing them forever. It seems a little condescending, but it is scary in its realism.

Realistic to the end. I've been involved with counseling many couples who break up and this movie hits the proverbial nail right on the head. Many break ups are "accidental". Many times persons who break up wish they could be back together. Many times the greatest danger comes when the problems are out in the open and persons attempt to save the relationship.

All of the cast does a good job. The characters are believable and make the viewer root for them, even the supporting cast. The viewer becomes emotionally glued to this film with a desire for these two to make it, but they always seem to just miss, even though both want it to work. This could be a healing film, but it is not a "feel good" film. This may be why so many viewers, expecting a light hearted comedy, gave it less than stellar reviews.

Most people who have experienced the breakup of a close relationship will see themselves in this film. About half of all marriages end in divorce and most couples who live together will eventually split. The brightest spot in the film is the ending. It reminds us that however relationships turn out, there is hope for a future on the other side.

I won't say how this film turns out, but if you do not like the ending there is an alternate ending in the bonus features. I liked the ending that showed in the theatres, but the other ending is worth a glance, if only for a few laughs.

In order to appreciate The Break-Up you really have to suspend disbelief at the reasons why a couple like Gary (Vince Vaughn) and Brooke (Jennifer Aniston) would actually come together in the first place. The film is well acted and fast paced and also entertaining, and it does a generally good job of showing what happens when love turns into a weapon of mutual destruction.

It's just I didn't quite buy the fact that a somewhat educated and cultured girl like Brooke who works as a art-gallery curator and likes going to the ballet would actually see in a working class schlep like Gary, a voluble if considerably doughy charmer who, with his two brothers (Vincent D'Onofrio) and Cole Hauser), runs a guided tourist service in Chicago.

If you can get beyond this strange lapse of logic, The Break-Up is a mostly fun and astute and features the lovely Jennifer and the clever Vince at their snappish best. The story itself is pretty slim: Brook and Gary meet at a Cubs game, fall in love hard, buy a showpiece apartment together and live happily ever after. All this happens in the opening credits.

It doesn't take long, however, for the cracks to appear in the relationship and the fights inevitably start coming. He doesn't buy the right number of lemons for a dinner party she's hosting for their respective families, and then doesn't do the dishes until she nags him to help. She doesn't understand his needs, which is basically relaxing after a hard day on his feet and watching the ball game. So consequently, after a bitter argument, Brooke impulsively puts an end to their relationship.

The big problem is that they both own the apartment together, and over the next couple of weeks things get worse. Lines are drawn over who can do what and trivial disagreements break out over common space, noise, and eventually escalating into Brooke inviting over dates, Gary inviting over strippers, moving in a pool table, and everything else as the relationship spirals out of control.

The couple's realtor (Jason Bateman) and shared friends, including Maddie (Joey Lauren Adams) and Johnny (Jon Favreau), all get caught up and are forced to take sides. But will Brooke and Gary be able to sort out their differences and stay together, or is the relationship doomed to failure?

I think the strength of the film comes from the biting repartee that takes place between Aniston and Vaughn, especially in the earlier scenes. You really do believe that they are - and have been - a committed couple that are about to explode with frustration at each other's failings. The actors indeed imbue Gary and Brooke with moments of sincere woundedness and the film's arguments - that relationships are essentially about mutual respect and about give and take - come across as remarkably authentic.

As usual in these sorts of Hollywood romantic comedies - and using the term romantic loosely - the supporting cast is filled out with a number of veterans. Judy Davis steals every scene she's in as Brooke's eccentric art gallery boss and Ann Margaret makes a surprise appearance as Brooke's mother.

But the movie ultimately belongs to both Aniston and Vaughn - she's tanned and toned and looks fantastic and he does what he does best - playing the permissive man-child who just refuses to take responsibility for anything, either personal or professional.

The film stalls a bit in its final third; as though the producers are intent to pad the story out and Brooke's motivations for doing what she does remain bit of an enigma - first she loves him then she doesn't and we're left to infer some of her feelings rather than bear witness to them. In the end, though, The Break-Up is at least partially notable for showing both lead actors at their best, but the film also shows off some terrific views of the beautiful city of Chicago. If you're like me, a casual gamer and like bikes, this is a pretty good game. One of the best motorcycle racing games for Playstation. TT is a better sim game, but not very racing oriented. MotoGP 07 has a pretty steep learning curve if you use anything but the arcade setting. Even that is pretty tough since the handling is pretty precise. The Advanced mode only seems to allow the back tire to spin up more so the Arcade mode just keeps you focused on the racing line and worry less about precise throttle movements. If someone would come up with a TT physics in a SBK or MotoGP race setting, that would be the best of both worlds. But for now, you have to compromise a bit. I haven't tried the new SBK game since it was just released, but I'll be giving that a try too.

Overall, the racing, riders, tracks and handling of this game are pretty good. Granted it is no PS3 game so you really can't dog the graphics too much. Like the other review said, miss the 125 and 250 classes.

I'm a huge fan of MotoGP, motorcycle racing in general, I've been riding for 16 years, I've owned sportsbikes, I've done many trackdays, and I've played pretty much every motorcycle game out there.

I'm very picky of simulations, but I also dislike being overwhelmed by options. Ultimately it is a game and I like being entertained.

The best motorcycle racing game to this day, in my mind was Namco's MotoGP 4 for PS2. However, it was not the MotoGP series in that game that made the game so interesting (the MotoGP class racing was HORRIBLE as if motorcycle racing was all about tail dragging through every corner. Ugh...) but rather the 125 and 250 classes. It was in those classes that the racing felt real, where corner entry and exits meant race wins or losses, where I felt like I actually had to work for each win and that my losses were not due to the computer "cheating" or "glitching". I've had countless races won or lost by thousands of a second and I even developed silly rivalries with the computer riders.

Unfortunately, there's just no way to feel like this about MotoGP 7. To start off, the arcade mode is silly, the advanced kind of pointless, and the simulation extremely difficult. Being the purist I went straight to simulation and found it very difficult to complete even a 5 lap race without crashing even after many many attempts. Throttle control is extremely important, as it's unbelievably easy to power on too quickly and lose the bike in what should, but isn't, a high side.

The problem about a simulation like this is that riding a real motorcycle gives you incredible amounts of feedback so that you know you're approaching a rear end slide that could turn into this situation you know this long before the view change or sound in MotoGP 7 warns you.

Also, where's my traction control!?! The 800s are supposed to address this very issue of throttle -> power delivery but the game seems to expect you to do all of the traction control with precise throttle control ala the 500cc era but without any of the feedback you'd get on a real bike. This translates to immense frustration.

However, all that being said, the bikes feel sort of realistic going around, even if the computer controlled riders don't seem to suffer from such problems.

I like the rain racing, it's done quite well and is much more satisfying than MotoGP 4 was.

The crashes are stupid like in pretty much any racing game. I'm sorry, but if you crash, you should not be able remount as a ghost 3 seconds later. It takes out so much of the realism. I force myself to count to 10 before restarting :)

But the biggest problem with the game is the qualifying. Basically, the qualifying times are, randomly generated for each computer rider based somewhat on real world results, but they are considerably faster than those real world times.

This would be ok if only you were able to match those times. However, this is simply impossible. The best I've managed in qualifying was a 12th place on the Desmosedici at Mugello; in most cases I am forced to start races from the very back. The really annoying thing here is that if you follow the computer bikes around during qualifying, they make nowhere near those times. I've never seen a computer controller bike actually have a lap time even within 3-4 seconds of what the score board shows.

This makes every race a ridiculous fight from the back which on the advanced levels means you can hope to finish somewhere in the mid pack if someone doesn't crash into you.

(also, qualifying does not offer a Qualifying tire, you're stuck with the same choices of tires as you get during races)

I dislike complex setup controls so I was happy to see that Capcom took a page from Namco's series and provided basic overall options. So a plus there.

I think what is truly disappointing about the game is how little substance there is outside of the already flawed racing. The little factoids about the riders get tired incredibly quickly. The highlights feature can take almost as long as the race. The replay is fun, but it's impossible to go backwards so if you miss a specific point in the race that you'd like to review, you have to restart from the beginning and then chase to that point at max double speed to get there.

The challenges are fun, but I didn't get this game for challenges and unlocking a bunch of photos. I got it for racing. For challenges I much prefer Tourist Trophy which is one of the finest motorcycle riding simulators, but a terrible race simulation.

Despite this mostly negative review, I'm giving the game 4 stars for fun and 3 overall. It *is* MotoGP, after all, and all the bikes, riders, and tracks are represented (it's the first time I've been able to "ride" china, turkey, and misano - I don't own the... Read more

From the Makers of SBK 2000/2001(PC) and the equally impressive SBK'07 (PS2), Milestone, comes the best iteration of MotoGP thus far.

The handling is very tight and the bikes feel like they have a quite a bit of weight to them while you can really feel the bumps as your suspension's working the tarmac...or is it the other way around? There's very competent AI and hard braking is required to keep up. The graphics, though slightly grainy, feature very good rider/bike models that are nicely animated and the game runs smoothly even with all 21 opponents (yup,Ilmore's alive) on screen. Independently adjustable opponent AI and bike handling characteristics means anyone can dive right on in and work you way up.The only downside, overall, is that there's no 125 or 250 classes.

If you're a MotoGP fan or bike fan in general, then buy without hesitation. Pick up SBK'07 also and you're covered for life.
